Sometimes it gets on the paper

Sheeting the Roof
As you can see, Charlie and his guys have been crazy busy knocking out the framing of this house. We went over on Friday, but it was pouring. I couldn’t get any pictures then (but that didn’t stop Charlie from continuing to work). However, Sunday was gorgeous, and I spent quite a bit of time walking around and through the house, though I had to employ some climbing maneuvers to get on the second floor with no ladder and no stairs.
Totally awesome.

House Update – We’ve got basement walls!
The foundation was poured last Thursday or Friday, so we’ve now got some walls to go with our hole. So, the next step is that Charlie is going to fire up his Bobcat and backfill the dirt around the foundation. Then, around Monday or so, they’ll start bringing in the lumber.
You’re looking at the view of our entry way, with the garage in the lower right and the far left corner is the kitchen. It’s starting to look like a floorplan!

Lindy’s First Christmas
We had a very eventful Christmas this year! Lindy had an absolutely amazing time, getting to see tons of family throughout the vacation. The Hofers were in town from KC, and she even got to see Punky and Judy (her Great-Aunts from Pensacola and Atlanta). Lindy was enthralled with the boxes and wrapping paper, and she was pretty impressed with the presents, too! Unfortunately, Rhya and I had to battle the stomach flu through the 24th and 25th, but we had a great vacation nonetheless.

Snow Day!
We got over a foot of snow yesterday, so Rhya bundled up Lindy tight, and we took her out on a sled that I had gotten the night before. I’m not sure what she thought of all of it, but I think she was a bit docile because of the fact she was bundled up so much. I, on the other hand, was stoked, because it was my break from shoveling my driveway. It took probably about 3 1/2 – 4 hrs. when all is said and done, and I beat the city road crew, as they still haven’t cleared our streets!

Two Weeks Down
Who has two thumbs and is in a beard growing contest with Charlie? That’s right, this guy! Don’t get jealous, just because I grow sweet beards all day. It’s full of red and blonde goodness.

First Halloween
As you can see, Lindy went as the cutest cat ever for Halloween this year. Tammy came down from Rockford, and we took her around to see JP (Lea Anne was in Milwaukee), My cousins Mark & Joy and Lisa $ Joe, Grandma and Grandpa Miller (my parents), and then we headed over to Charlie and Amber’s house to try to get some pictures with Lindy, Mac and Gus. Unfortunately, both the “Tractor Guy” (Mac) and the Lion (Gus) were fast asleep when we made it over there. However, Lindy – the child that never misses a party – was content to play with the sleeping children’s toys!
We had a great Halloween, and we’re looking forward to taking Lindy out in our new neighborhood next year!

Grandma and Grandpa’s House
Lindy and I have started a bit of routine: we head over to Grandpa Vernon and Grandma Janet’s house on Sunday for lunch and to (usually) watch the Bears’ game. Rhya usually stays home and gets some cleaning done or takes some well deserved rest. This week, with the Bears playing tomorrow, Lindy was able to take full advantage of some of my old toys (see the Mickey bank in the back) as well as some new ones.

Giddy-Up
We may have an animal-lover on our hands. She absolutely loves both George (her giraffe) and her rocking horse. I’m pretty sure she’d ride them all day if Mom or Dad would keep rocking and making animal noises.
