With just about a week left until the actual due date, there is a lot of anticipation in the Miller house right now. We have been going to the doctor every week to check on the baby’s progress, but she has been awfully stubborn. She must be pretty comfortable in there because she has shown no indication that she is ready to come out. In fact, she has shown such little inclination that the doctors are a bit concerned that she is a bit too big to come out the old fashioned way.
As such, we have an appointment today to get another sonogram done to see just how big she is. I’ll definitely update this post tonight with the results, if we get any (and maybe the songram pictures). I’m not hopeful that we’ll know anything for a couple of days, as the sonogram tech usually just takes some measurements and gives them to a doctor later for interpretation.
Needless to say, we’re getting antsy! Rhya is extremely uncomfortable, and is sleeping in small increments here and there. Maybe it’s her body’s way of getting her ready for being the mother of an infant!
We’ve got almost everything ready for her to come, and her diaper bag, car seat, and stroller are all in the car and ready to go. Really, all that is left is for Rhya and I to get together the things that Rhya has on the “hospital bag” list.
Start the countdown (and may it be short)!
UPDATE: We went to the doctor’s office yesterday (Wednesday), and Rhya got another sonogram. The whole trip was a bit anticlimactic, as we never met with a doctor. The sono tech. took all of the measurements, and said that she would put them in the doctor’s box to evaluate today. Hopefully, we’ll hear from them today as to what the next steps are, but it seems more likely that we won’t know anything until Rhya’s next appointment on Tuesday.
As for the actual sonogram, the baby is huge! It was a lot different than the last one. It’s not like you are seeing the entire baby in each sono picture anymore. You might see a kidney, or a bladder, or a cheek. So, there weren’t really any good pictures. As for results, we know that the baby is about 8 lbs. right now, and will probably be around 9 lbs. or so if Rhya carries to term. Also, she still hasn’t dropped, which leaves the whole question about whether a c-section is the right route open.
