Lindy and her proud father

We welcomed little Lindy Paige Miller into our family at 10:02pm on December 28th, 2005. She was 8 lbs. 9 oz. and 19 1/2 in. tall. Rhya had to undergo a cesarean section after about 13 1/2 hours of labor, but both she and her new daughter are recovering at home.

We couldn’t be more excited and proud! You can see some pictures of the experience here.

We’ve got a reservation for 3

Filed under: Lindy, Pregnancy, Rhya — mattandrhya @ 4:10 am

Rhya just called the hospital at about 3:40am, and they confirmed that they have an open bed for us. Looks like this whole thing is going to get underway as planned. We are so excited! They are going to start the induction at 5:00am, and we’ll see how it goes from there.

Wait for it…

We found out today that the doctors are going to induce labor tomorrow. So, there should be a new addition to the Miller household sometime on December 27th! We start at 5am tomorrow, so I’m going to cut this short, but you can expect many updates and a landslide of pictures soon!

Baby Countdown

Filed under: Lindy, Pregnancy, Rhya — mattandrhya @ 8:04 am

With just about a week left until the actual due date, there is a lot of anticipation in the Miller house right now. We have been going to the doctor every week to check on the baby’s progress, but she has been awfully stubborn. She must be pretty comfortable in there because she has shown no indication that she is ready to come out. In fact, she has shown such little inclination that the doctors are a bit concerned that she is a bit too big to come out the old fashioned way.

As such, we have an appointment today to get another sonogram done to see just how big she is. I’ll definitely update this post tonight with the results, if we get any (and maybe the songram pictures). I’m not hopeful that we’ll know anything for a couple of days, as the sonogram tech usually just takes some measurements and gives them to a doctor later for interpretation.

Needless to say, we’re getting antsy! Rhya is extremely uncomfortable, and is sleeping in small increments here and there. Maybe it’s her body’s way of getting her ready for being the mother of an infant!

We’ve got almost everything ready for her to come, and her diaper bag, car seat, and stroller are all in the car and ready to go. Really, all that is left is for Rhya and I to get together the things that Rhya has on the “hospital bag” list.

Start the countdown (and may it be short)!

UPDATE: We went to the doctor’s office yesterday (Wednesday), and Rhya got another sonogram. The whole trip was a bit anticlimactic, as we never met with a doctor. The sono tech. took all of the measurements, and said that she would put them in the doctor’s box to evaluate today. Hopefully, we’ll hear from them today as to what the next steps are, but it seems more likely that we won’t know anything until Rhya’s next appointment on Tuesday.

As for the actual sonogram, the baby is huge! It was a lot different than the last one. It’s not like you are seeing the entire baby in each sono picture anymore. You might see a kidney, or a bladder, or a cheek. So, there weren’t really any good pictures. As for results, we know that the baby is about 8 lbs. right now, and will probably be around 9 lbs. or so if Rhya carries to term. Also, she still hasn’t dropped, which leaves the whole question about whether a c-section is the right route open.

Forget the Needle, Pass the Iron

Filed under: Pregnancy, Rhya — mattandrhya @ 5:30 am

Rhya found out last week at her doctor’s appointment that she is not diabetic! That was definitely a big weight off of both of our shoulders. However, in their spelunking of her blood, they were unable to find enough iron.

So, to help Rhya squash the anemia, they gave her some iron supplements. It’s amazing. In the short couple of days that she has been taking them, she feels like a new person. It is a amazing how much iron plays a key role in the energy of a person. She is much less lethargic and is excited to have this new-found energy!

Comfort is less than 2 months away!

Filed under: La-Z-Boy, Pregnancy, Rhya — mattandrhya @ 7:08 am

Rhya and I put in two recliners for our living room last night. Rhya has been so miserable trying to get comfortable on both the couches and the bed. She’s constantly changing positions, and we dont’ really have a good way for her to recline right now. So, we went in and pre-ordered the chairs, but it is going to take 2 months for them to “build” them. But, at least there is light at the end of the tunnel!

Our Recliner

If any of you are shopping for a recliner, here are two little bits of information: La-Z-Boy has patents on two fairly important “features.”

  1. Being able to recline the back without putting up the footrest
  2. Being able to have the footrest partially extended (actually about 3 or 4 different positions)

To us, #1 was a deal-breaker for all other chairs.

We are so excited! So, to mark the occasion, we’ve decided to let everyone in on a little secret. Our new daughter will be named Lindy Paige Miller.

If you want to beat the rush, you can e-mail her here, or e-mail me, and I’ll give you her address.
